A machine wears down under stress until it needs to be repaired or replaced. An organism grows stronger from stress, as nature understands it. An organism grows weaker from stress that is unnatural.

What’s everyone doing w/ their bacon fat? Pouring it in the trash? Straining it?

@Chad – put it in a jar in the fridge, cook with it. Great stuff.

Questions from yesterday’s blog post answered.

Had a piece of pita bread with lunch yesterday. Soon afterwards, I felt like someone dropped a kettlebell on my skull and got really tired. I guess I’ve passed the point of no return. #brianyouwereright

Dear Brian’s Corner,
I have a strange question, does this change in diet effect sex drive?
The first 10 days I might as well have been akin to Peter, Brer, Easter, and Bugs, but the last week or so I am like a celibate monk.
Please tell me that this is normal and not the result of too many years of porn.
Thanks,
Leadless Pencil

Went to Costco today and passed on the tube steak and pizza combo. Temptations are ever present but I’ve been good thus far.
Made Ropa Vieja on Monday before the 6 AM workout (http://allrecipes.com/recipe/ropa-vieja-in-a-slow-cooker/). I added cumin instead of garlic salt and 2 diced jalapenos for extra flavor. Third day of leftovers and it still pretty good.

@Julia, here’s Gary’s site. http://garytaubes.com/
I liked this one talk he gave at Google. Same talk. I liked the references to the Google and Microsoft low fat cafeteria’s, and his answering of questions at the end.

@Canadian Chad – make Paleo Baconnaise
2 egg yolks
1 tsp mustard (this is optional)
3 tsp lemon juice
1 cup bacon fat
It is good on everything!!!

To the anonymous poster: we are re-engineering your body’s hormonal balance via altered food intake, so changes in hormone-controlled processes like moods and sex drive are normal.
Like we’ve told folks experiencing mood swings, workout bonks, etc. — give it another few weeks and we’ll evaluate then.
I resisted all urges to make inappropriate jokes! Ha!

Here are those two cupcakes I challenged myself with today

the second one was carrot. that counts for something right?
Don’t believe the picture hype though. It was like chewing a stress ball covered in sugar. I would have much rather had 6 bananas….but I did not do that because I have impeccable self-control.

Curbside Cupcakes? Thank goodness I took off the Food Truck Fiesta tracking app off my phone. Saves me from tracking them.
But I’ve being doing Food Porn lately and looking at pictures of Paleo baked goods for after the challenge….Paleo pancakes, Paleo muffins, Paleo cookies….(drooling).
