It’s been a good weekend thus far. The key for me this weekend was thinking about meal times and where I’ll be and making sure I could find a way to eat paleo. If I knew I was going to be out and about around a meal time, I made sure to pinpoint a paleo friendly dining destination near where I was ahead of time and plan on going there. Most of the time that ended up being a grocery store that had a hot food bar where I would go make salad with chicken in it.
I’ve had a sick baby at home all week, so not much socializing for me. But in general, it’s occurring to me that I can “paleo-ize” a lot of recipes (or find sites that have done it for me already, if I’m stumped) and that I really don’t miss most of the dairy and grains I had been eating. There are some exceptions of course–I’d love a piece of cheese, and hamburgers just aren’t the same wrapped in lettuce (maybe because I don’t like lettuce all that much). But as long as I eat regularly, plus more if I’m extra hungry, the cravings are pretty much kept at bay.
I hate a really bad case of indigestion yesterday, is there anything I can take that’s Paleo friendly, it’s the first time in a long time that I’ve had that happen.
Is it possible I’m eating too much meat in one sitting?
BTW, Ray’s to the Third is open and it’s fabulous (across the street from Hell Burger in a typical unmarked-Rays style). It’s more of a bistro style place that strikes a good middle ground (in both menu and price) between Hell Burger and The Steaks. It’s mostly steak frites (you can ask for 2x salad and no fries) but about 15 different varieties. We went there last night and by avoiding alcohol we got in and out for <$45 for two people (with tip) and had some damn good beef.
Despite digging into a burger covered in bacon, one friend refereed to me as “turning into that Vegan friend,” which I believe was a semi-intoxicated reference to me not drinking rather than not eating meat. Friends also continue to say things like “he’s on a strange diet” and what not, which is rather annoying when I’m trying to order dinner. Otherwise, made a sweat potato, smoked-bacon chili for today’s football games that everyone loved, even after I told them it 100% Paleo.
Mostly I just explain to friends that I’m on a cleansing diet, which pretty much gets the conversation moving on elsewhere.

I love Lyon Hall for a paleo-friendly outing. So many options!
